Research on low carbon management using a scientific classification method

摘要: This research is aimed at the rapid development of a low-carbon economy, in which we propose the classification and application of relevant management measures to affect the development of environmental management ideas and measures of the low-carbon economy, which we called as low carbon management measures. According to scientific analysis of the low-carbon economy, we can divide low-carbon management measures into three parts: measures for reduction of carbon sources, carbon flow planning, and increase of carbon sinks. Furthermore, we list the advantages that China can utilize to develop its own low-carbon management measures. In the end, necessary adjustments to environmental management measures in China can be made according to this scientific classification.

Optimal production strategy for auto manufacturers with government subsidies in competitive environments

摘要: Using the Hotelling model and evolutionary game theory, this paper studies the optimal production strategy of duopoly auto manufacturers and explores the impacts of two government policies (manufacturer and consumer subsidies) on strategies related to the production of electric vehicles (EVs) or fuel vehicles (FVs). The study finds that consumers’ environmental preferences have direct effects on manufacturers’ market shares and profits, which in turn, affect the manufacturers’ production strategy selection. Specifically, when consumer environmental preference is sufficiently high, both auto manufacturers will eventually choose to produce EVs; when it is moderate, only one with a cost advantage will choose to produce EVs. Finally, when it is low, neither auto manufacturer will produce EVs. The findings further reveal that the more significant the difference in EV production costs is, the more inclined auto manufacturers are to choose a different final stable strategy. Regardless of whether the government subsidizes manufacturers or consumers, the policy only works if subsidies reach a certain threshold. The study also identifies the conditions under which government subsidies are considered more cost-effective.

能源系统低碳转型——工程管理视角下的文献计量研究 Review

摘要:

作为应对气候变化的主要途径,能源系统低碳转型近年来受到国内外学者和政策制定者的日益关注。本文从工程管理视角出发,对能源系统低碳转型的相关研究成果进行文献计量分析。首先,明晰了能源系统低碳转型的内涵与外延,包括能源结构绿色转型、化石能源清洁化利用和能源效率提升三个方面。其次,运用系统检索与文献计量分析方法揭示了相关研究现状及发展趋势。研究发现,能源系统低碳转型相关的管理问题研究近年来呈指数增长趋势,尤其受到中国、英国、美国、德国和荷兰学者的关注。由于该领域研究具有较为明显的跨学科特征,相关研究成果主要发表于能源工程类、环境科学类以及与能源相关的社会科学类期刊。通过文献聚类分析,发现关于能源系统低碳转型管理问题的现有研究大体可划分为四类:①关注不同时空尺度与系统约束下的能源系统低碳转型路径研究;②聚焦可再生能源技术、污染防控技术等驱动能源系统低碳转型的低碳技术扩散研究;③服务不同部门及区域能源系统低碳转型的设施与网络规划研究;④涵盖政治、经济、社会、自然等维度的能源系统低碳转型驱动机制研究。上述研究方向在能源系统低碳转型过程中发挥着不同但相互支撑的重要作用,其中考虑多目标协同的韧性能源低碳转型路径设计、兼顾成本有效性与系统可靠性的能源设施网络规划、能源系统低碳转型的多层级风险管理问题仍有待进一步深入研究和突破,商业模式、非政府参与者、能源公平、深度脱碳和净零能源建筑等是近期较为受关注的研究热点。

Insights into carbon-based materials for catalytic dehydrogenation of low-carbon alkanes and ethylbenzene

摘要: Direct dehydrogenation with high selectivity and oxidative dehydrogenation with low thermal limit has been regarded as promising methods to solve the increasing demands of light olefins and styrene. Metal-based catalysts have shown remarkable performance for these reactions, such as Pt, CrOx, Co, ZrOx, Zn and V. Compared with metal-based catalysts, carbon materials with stable structure, rich pore texture and large surface area, are ideal platforms as the catalysts and the supports for dehydrogenation reactions. In this review, carbon materials applied in direct dehydrogenation and oxidative dehydrogenation reactions including ordered mesoporous carbon, carbon nanodiamond, carbon nanotubes, graphene and activated carbon, are summarized. A general introduction to the dehydrogenation mechanism and active sites of carbon catalysts is briefly presented to provide a deep understanding of the carbon-based materials used in dehydrogenation reactions. The unique structure of each carbon material is presented, and the diversified synthesis methods of carbon catalysts are clarified. The approaches for promoting the catalytic activity of carbon catalysts are elaborated with respect to preparation method optimization, suitable structure design and heteroatom doping. The regeneration mechanism of carbon-based catalysts is discussed for providing guidance on catalytic performance enhancement. In addition, carbon materials as the support of metal-based catalysts contribute to exploiting the excellent catalytic performance of catalysts due to superior structural characteristics. In the end, the challenges in current research and strategies for future improvements are proposed.

Case-based reasoning for selection of the best practices in low-carbon city development

摘要: Cities emit extensive carbon emissions, which are considered a major contributor to the severe issue of climate change. Various low-carbon development programs have been initiated at the city level worldwide to address this problem. These practices are invaluable in promoting the development of low-carbon cities. Therefore, an effective approach should be developed to help decision makers select the best practices from previous experience on the basis of the impact features of carbon emission and city context features. This study introduces a case-based reasoning methodology for a specific city to select the best practices as references for low-carbon city development. The proposed methodology consists of three main components, namely, case representation, case retrieval, and case adaption and retention. For city representation, this study selects city context features and the impact features of carbon emission to characterize and represent a city. The proposed methodology is demonstrated by applying it to the selection of the best practices for low-carbon development of Chengdu City in Sichuan Province, China.

Correlation between carbon emissions and energy structure –Reliability analysis of low carbon target

摘要: The influence of energy intensity on carbon intensity depends upon the fraction of energy mixes with high carbon emissions in the total energy mixes . The correlation of with a variety of primary energy mix fractions and technology advances such as CCS and CCHP is analyzed and deduced. Taking the long-term carbon reduction target in 2050 settled upon by the Copenhagen Agreement and the mid-term target suggested by the “450 Scenes Program” of the International Energy Agency (IEA) as constraints, the new pattern of the energy transition of the world in 2020, 2030, and 2050 are estimated and figured out. The peak value of energy consumption will lag behind the peak value of carbon emissions; the world energy structure shifting point will be in 2020–2025. Estimates show that China’s mid-2020 and long-term targets of energy-saving and emission reduction announced by the Chinese government might be achieved.

“三峡库区”发展低碳经济的战略思考

摘要:

三峡库区的移民安稳致富、生态环境建设和社会经济的协调发展是三峡建设工程完成后急需关注的重大现实问题。目前库区人地、就业和生态矛盾突出,要保护生态环境必须走低碳发展之路。建议首先大力发展低碳旅游产业:有效规划库区旅游资源,培育低碳旅游产业群,打造库区低碳交通走廊,营销库区特色产业;其次适宜发展低碳种植业:适宜发展经济作物,挖掘碳汇种植潜力,搭建国内碳交易市场;最后构建库区农村低碳生活消费体系,把三峡库区建成我国低碳经济发展的示范区。

The energy transition also calls for electricity- market redesign. Low-carbon technologies will fundamentally reshape the electricity sector. The electricity generation and demand will be significantly unpredictable and uncontrollable thus require for a more sophisticated system operation to guarantee the grid stability and reliability. The higher difficulty induced by the green-technology penetration expose the electricity-market to a higher market-failure risk. Thus, the future low-carbon electricity-market and associated regulation scheme require a comprehensive new design.
